York Athletics & Recreation’s Manager, Sport Medicine & Sport Injury Clinic Andrea Prieur is among the latest to be inducted into the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame.
The Peterborough, Ont., native and longtime certified athletic therapist was among the six inductees who formed the Hall’s Class of 2025, and was officially inducted in both the Athletic Therapy and Builder categories at a ceremony held on June 14 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
A 1997 graduate of York’s sport therapy certificate program where she later lectured and served as course and placement coordinator, Prieur has been a staple in collegiate athletic therapy for more than two decades. Prior to re-joining her alma mater in her current capacity in 2018, she spent 13 years at the University of Toronto’s David L. MacIntosh Sport Medicine Clinic, where she served as head therapist since 2006. In addition to managing the sport injury clinic, Prieur is the head athletic therapist for the Lions men’s and women’s basketball teams. She also co-owns two private multidisciplinary injury rehabilitation clinics, located in Schomberg and Caledon, Ont.
The veteran athletic therapist has represented her country on the therapy team for various international events, including the 2012 (London), 2016 (Rio) and 2020 (Tokyo) Olympic Summer Games, as well as serving as the chief athletic therapist for the 2009 in Serbia and 2011 in Turkey. She has been on the Canadian therapy staffs for several Pan American and Commonwealth Games as well as the International Track & Field Games. Additionally, Prieur was the head athletic therapist for Canada at the 2000 Women’s World Hockey Championship. She has worked with the Canadian diving team since 2010 with several other national teams in her decorated career.
